We know it can be a little overwhelming coming to church when you don’t know what to expect.

We hope we can answer your questions below, but please reach out if there is anything we can do to make your visit easier.

We’d love to meet you!

We have 2 services every Sunday.

All of our services incorporate worship time, prayer and bible teaching.

8:30am – Traditional Worship Service
10:30am – Contemporary Service with a Kids Program

The best way to know what to expect when you visit is to watch one of our services online.

Our location

Stillwater Church is located at 415 Mckeough Avenue in Saraland, AL. 36571. We have plenty of parking available including wheelchair friendly spots.

What are the different service types?

Our 8:30am traditional service is our most formal service. We sing traditional hymns accompanied by our pianist and choir. We also participate in reciting traditional methodist liturgy such as the Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Gloria Patri.

Our 10:30am contemporary service is more relaxed in style, with music led by our worship band and vocalists. We invite people from all ages to any service, but if you’re looking for our highschoolers and our Young Adult community they can be found at our 10:30am service.  This service is also great for families, as that is when our kids program runs.

What to expect

When you visit a church for the first time it can be intimidating – we hope that this is not your experience of Stillwater’s and that you feel welcome and at home as you join us at one of our services.

On arriving at Stillwater after finding a parking spot, you will walk up to our main entrance and be greeted by our welcoming team (they will be wearing a lanyard so you know who they are). They will say hi, and help you to find a seat inside our sanctuary. If you have any questions at all, about the service or facilities (like “where is the bathroom?!”) they will be more than happy to show you around. Don’t be shy to ask if you are not sure about something!

Our service will go for about 1 hr. We will open by singing a few songs together, then our worship leader will welcome you and encourage you to say hi to the people around you, and share any church news and announcements. We will have a time of prayer, and and offering collection (there is no pressure at all to give during this time, if you are a visitor please feel free to let the collection plate pass you by). Then a church member will read from the Bible. One of our Pastors will then share a message from the passage that has been read out. We finish our service with more singing and a time of prayer and reflection. After the service, our Pastoral team would love to chat with you if you have any questions about the service, something you have heard about Jesus, or if you simply want to find out more. Head back to our Welcome Desk and you can grab a newcomers gift bag, which has some info about our church and activities we run.

What should I wear?

Something you already own and that you feel comfortable in! There is no formal dress code at Stillwater, no need to feel like you have to dress up – but you of course can put on your Sunday best if that is what you are happiest in! Most of our congregation wear smart casual attire, think what you would wear to a weekend outing with friends.
